This Sunday we’ll be looking at 1 Peter 2 and thinking through submission from the Bible’s perspective. Nobody really likes being told what to do, how to live etc. In fact we often react against it! Peter encourages us to submit to our authorities because in doing so, we are firstly submitting to God who showed love and service to us first in His great example of submission, in Jesus life and death. As we’re primarily submitting to God, Peter gives good advice for when our faith and worldly authorities clash. How we respond during these times says much about the gospel we profess in our words and actions. We’re not to be doormats, but people lovingly and faithfully seeking the good of all people for God’s glory.
