This Sunday we continue to explore the event upon which the whole of human history pivots: the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We shift into John’s Gospel and Jesus’ appearance to the apostles on the evening of Easter Sunday (John 20.19-31). ‘Peace be with you’ (v19, v21) Jesus proclaims to the apostles. And with these words graciously reinstates them to fellowship with himself, and also to ministry. All on the basis of his completed work.
May we rest in that same grace today, and turn away from performing in ministry in order to secure his favor. Jesus welcomes failed disciples, and would heal, fill and send them afresh.
