In the letter of 1 Peter, he tells us we have unprecedented access to God, but more than that: we are a dwelling place for him. The Churches Peter writes to have been shaken in their faith. They were facing severe persecution: property confiscated, beatings, arrests. And they might be tempted to think that God has abandoned them. But in 1 Peter 2 he tells us that we can be secure in our faith, because:

First, Christ is our foundation stone: rejected, but precious to God.

Second, We’re a chosen people, God is with us.

God lives among us, he has chosen us and made his home with us.

Questions for discussion:

    1. When do you feel insecure about your faith?
    2. Why does God call us priests? (1 Peter 2:9, 10 , Ex 19:5, 6)
    3. Why is it so important that we count Jesus as precious? (1 Peter 2:4, 5)
