Why do we come together as a church every week? There’s lots of answers to that question, but a significant part of it is to show service to each other, regardless of our background, race or reputation. This is especially the case when new people come to worship with us – how are we showing the love of Jesus to them?
This Sunday we’re exploring Acts 8 and the example of the early Church as they widen their fellowship to include Samaritans. First, in the preaching of Philip, and then in the arrival of the apostles from Jerusalem, to confirm this new ministry. When we are able to find real and practical ways to offer fellowship to people who are not like us, we are fulfilling the commission of Jesus: we will be his witnesses here at the ends of the earth!
