The Gospel on Sunday from Luke 15 includes two parables about the joy in finding something that had been lost. While the parables point to the joy in heaven over finding a lost soul, the real focus is about something else, to challenge and condemn those who were self-righteous and cold hearted to people in their society who were in moral need, and therefore seen to be beneath them. This can lead us to ponder on how we search for many things that are lost in our troubled world, which can include searching for truth, compassion, justice, or respect.
