What a strange world we live in. Tony Abbott has been canned as 'old-fashioned' when responding to a question about what sex advice he would give to his daughters. He responded along the lines of seeing virginity as a gift not to be given away lightly. What radical and old-fashioned advice! And the marriage word not even mentioned. It made me wonder, what is the opposite of old fashioned? New fashioned or young fashioned perhaps? Why is old necessarily seen as bad? What else is old fashioned - maybe sex is old fashioned, it's been going on for centuries, or going to school or work may be old fashioned. What is it that makes new better? What about old people? Some things get better with age - wine, what else? We are all getting old, at the same pace - how can the wisdom and experience of the old be relevant to the not so old. God is very old. But because he is eternal he is also very young. He is getting older and younger every day. So am I. 'Old-fashioned' doesn't actually communicate anything. What has enduring value through any age or time?

he was going to get a lot of flack which ever way he said things!well the young will realize the oldies did know best when they think about things down the track a bit! or maybe some can't think too far ahead of themselves.the young tend to think "what do they(oldies) know about anything?" well we could say we have had our life experiences& we have made mistakes too& we only wish to pass on our wisdom to them.
